Thanks to extreme engineering work on every component, we have kept the weight down to just 675g. Machined from solid aluminum, all 22 (per half a pair) structural parts of the HY have been meticulously designed and crafted to create a hybrid binding that is as high-performing on descents as it is enjoyable on ascents. The Hy Free unlocks the true potential of hybrid bindings. By merging lightweight design with alpine-grade downhill performance, it enables freeriders to explore without limits. FEATURES

Alpine performance (toe)
The Hy Free delivers the responsiveness, control, and confidence of an alpine binding. In ski mode the boot sits flat on the ski, eliminating the pin-height differential typical of standard PIN bindings for a true downhill feel.

Compatibility (toe)
Works with most alpine, ski mountaineering, and freeride boots. For safe, high performance, the AFD slider must be adjusted for different soles using specific spacers between the sliding AFD and its base. Thinner plastic soles pair with softer spacers to add damping; thicker rubber soles typically need little to no spacer thanks to inherent vibration absorption.

Seamless transitions (toe)
Switch from ascent to descent in seconds. Raise the toe arms for walk mode or rotate them forward and down for ski mode—no interchangeable parts required, and reliability in all conditions.

Negative steps (heel)
Unique “negative” walk mode lets the heel sit slightly below toe level for efficient flats and approaches—reducing strain and improving stride, especially with freeride boots that have limited cuff mobility.

Walking modes (heel)
Two easy-to-engage heel risers make steeper climbs more efficient; both can be activated with a pole.

Hy Brake System (heel)
The rear brake locks automatically in walk mode. Push the rear lever fully forward, then press the rear paddle to lock. For ski mode, push the rear lever back to seamlessly unlock—simple and hassle-free.

Performing through lightness
Rooted in ATK’s race heritage, the Hy embodies the mantra “performance through lightness,” expanding that philosophy from speed touring to touring and free touring so more skiers can move faster and ski harder.

Durability
Minimalist engineering at just 675 g while remaining exceptionally robust. All 22 structural components per half pair are CNC’d from 7075 aluminum for an optimal strength-to-weight balance and confident performance on both the up and the down.
