About us

Back in 2000, Felix Rioux, Danny Laroche, and Serge Maheu, original founders of D-Structure, recognized felt there was a need for a ski shop dedicated to freeskiing. While many stores in the US and Canada dismissed Newschool skiing as a passing trend, the trio saw an opportunity, particularly in Québec. They took a risk and opened D-Structure on Rue St-Denis in Montreal.

Québec, known as a hotbed for top talent in skiing, played a pivotal role in D-Structure's vision. Rioux and Laroche prioritized supporting local athletes, eager to showcase their passion for the sport worldwide. With contributions from influential figures like JP Auclair, Phil Larose, JF Cusson, Phil Dion, Thomas Rinfret, Phil Belanger, Vincent Dorion, Phil Poirier, Iannick B, Dave Crichton, Chris Turpin, Kaya Tursky, Kim Lamarre, JF Houle, Phil Casabon, and Charles Gagnier, to name a few - they formed a team that helped solidify freeskiing's legitimacy and D-Structure's position as a pioneer in embracing the movement.

In 2003, Belanger helped D-Structure open a second location in Québec City, and by 2007, was in charge of the business. Phil commitment to freeskiing and to Québec's scene was hard to miss.

Phil Warren joined the business in 2013 with a vast experience in both selling and buying. Before being a sales rep for some of the most influential brands out there such as Orage and Armada, Warren was a professional skier on a local and national level.

Fast forward to 2024 - things have changed a bit but we're still fueled by the same desire to support our local, national and international scene.

We'll be celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2025. Still core, still independent. We must be doing something right, eh?
