About Faction La Machine 3 mega 2023 skis

La Machine Mega boasts a slightly trimmer waist than ‘La Machine original,’ whose cult status inspired the production of an entire family of skis in its name. This slimmer version offers similar float as compared to its fatter sibling, but in a more versatile package—for ample flotation on the deepest of days and nimble handling when the weather's high and dry. Its progressive, rockered shape allows for hook-free pivoting and surfing across any & all snow you may encounter on your ski-touring adventures. Backed by the finest, most durable Austrian construction, powered 100% by renewable energy.

You'll love this ski if:

  • You want extended tip and tail rocker for effortless turn initiation
  • You need a super-light free-touring ski for long expeditions
  • You need a floaty ski that easily surfs above variable snow conditions in the backcountry
  • You want a premium, carbon-loaded ski for torsional strength on the downhill, without the bulk

A construction that places strips of protective material along the sides of each core, between the edge and the topsheet. Sidewalls provide the best possible edge hold and stability when the ski is engaged in a turn as well as protecting the wood core, edges and topsheet from impact and outside damage.

We employ Extended Rocker, a reverse camber shape in the tip and tails, which along with waist width, is the most important element In in providing float in fresh snow. Extended rocker also makes pivoting and turn initiation easier and means you have less chance of catching an edge.

Elliptical Sidecut is made up of a longer radius underfoot and shorter radii in the tip and tail of the ski. The long radius underfoot means you can pivot faster and easier, while a shorter radius 0 in the tip and tail result in easier turn initiation. This sidecut allows for a wide variety of turns lengths, angles and mounting positions. (stay tuned for our mounting guide).

Micro-cap construction is a a hybrid of a premium, sandwich sidewall construction fused with a lightweight, durable cap construction. With micro-cap, the sandwich construction provides awesome edge hold and torsional stability while the ski's topsheet wraps around and meets the sidewall, protecting the fragile join that can be prone to chipping.

This flex works best for most skiers. Enjoy stability in front of, and behind the binding area to provide solid edge hold. Then, we transition to smooth, progressive flex in the lips and tails to easily absorb all the different bumps and snow debris on the mountain. This flex allows for an easier turn initiation and finish.

Our poplar, beech and ash cores are sourced from the forests near our European factories, eliminating the carbon cost of transporting raw materials across great distances. Our raw materials are FSC accredited, meaning that the forests from which our wood is sourced are to managed to support environmental and societal sustainability.

This ski uses an environmentally-conscious, bio-based resin that has 35% of its molecular range derived from plant material. It has the same structural properties as resin derived solely from petrochemical products.
